Same thing with "Aliens," which is a traditional "monster" movie, in which the aliens replace Frankenstein, Freddie Krueger or any boogeyman of choice. That's not to dispute their effectiveness as films (especially "Aliens").

I've always felt "Minority Report" was underrated as SF, as well as the overly-humanistic but still affecting "2010."Alex Bledsoehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05805521718331603133noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16743003.post-14795238305020628602008-01-07T07:51:00.000-08:002008-01-07T07:51:00.000-08:00So much good stuff in that list, it's hard to say ...So much good stuff in that list, it's hard to say which are my top 5 favs.

For movies, I'd have to say: Galaxy Quest, Starship Troopers, Terminator, Star Trek - the Wrath of Khan and Star Trek - First Contact are tied, and finally, The Fifth Element (hokey, I know, but I liked it). Oh, and the X-men movies (1 & 2) should be in there somewhere, too.

For TV shows: Star Trek TNG, Enterprise, Quantum Leap, The X-Files (but only the early episodes), and V-The Miniseries (because the prime time series version was just bad).B.E.
