Congratulations.

You've prompted me to change my plans for my post today.Maya Reynoldshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12791278987339976101noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16743003.post-65284947505429280912010-03-11T09:17:03.313-08:002010-03-11T09:17:03.313-08:00God I feel like an idiot. E-signed their contract but fortunately in 72 hours you can rescend your signature.
My lawyer informed me e signing is not legal any way. Anyone can create email addresses. Contracts are only legal with a hand signed signature.
This Fletcher guy is pure scum. My red flag went up after the contract signing I got an email 10 minutes later telling me I needed to pay for a critique. From their publishing arm.
Hmmm... I have gotten no money yet but need to pay $90 for a critique. No legit agent askas for money before you get paid.
God I feel stupid. Thanks for the website.
Maya I am originally from Dallas and live in Miyazaki, Japan. God I miss Texas. Thanks for all the advice.Bishop Daniel Reahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02770556854297038394noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16743003.post-44400835228047704432010-01-07T09:40:06.112-08:002010-01-07T09:40:06.112-08:00Hey, saw your post while I was googling Barbara Ca...Hey, saw your post while I was googling Barbara Casey. I've got a MS submission authored by her, "represented" by her agency, in front of me.

It's absolutely awful.

Scammers! I will continue to smite you. I Googled them and am horrified at how much terrible press they are getting. Suffice to say I am not signing!
Thanks for the heads up :)Bootieshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04495151844716603017noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16743003.post-80960485625733883722007-06-02T06:29:00.000-07:002007-06-02T06:29:00.000-07:00B.E.: When I first moved to Dallas, I dated a cop...B.E.: When I first moved to Dallas, I dated a cop for a while. He was appalled at how outgoing I was out on the street or in my car. I frequently would smile and nod at strangers. He lectured me, saying "You have to act defensively if you don't want to end up a victim."

Now, many years later, I STILL smile and nod at people I don't know. I can't help myself. But I do think defensively now. I don't assume everyone is my friend, and I'm constantly assessing threat.

Barbara Casey's website is warm and welcoming. She obviously wears many hats: agent, writer, editor. But do you want a renaissance woman for your agent or someone who will represent YOU and your interests?Maya Reynoldshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12791278987339976101noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16743003.post-26552253711867589922007-06-02T06:09:00.000-07:002007-06-02T06:09:00.000-07:00I wondered about those publishers listed on Casey'...I wondered about those publishers listed on Casey's site. That's another flag - I hadn't heard of any of them. And while I'm sure I haven't heard of every single legit publisher, I should've been able to recognize at least one.B.E.
